The foundation of beautiful skin starts with what we do at home every day. In our last article we focused on looking into more natural treatments that can be done to improve our skin, but treatments alone aren’t enough. We use home care products every day to enhance and maintain treatment results and address conditional changes in the skin.
At Facial Aesthetic Concepts we use the GRASS method to help identify the most important components of a comprehensive home care regimen. Each letter of the word GRASS represents an integral part of achieving and maintaining beautiful skin. “G” is growth factor, “R” is for retinols and other exfoliants, “A” is for antioxidants and the “S”s are for specialty products and sun protection. Having these vital components in your home care routine is important, but it’s also important to understand how each product and its active ingredients effect and work with your body so you can appropriately care for your skin.
Our skin’s conditions are constantly changing from external and internal factors causing issues like dehydration, breakouts, damage caused by free-radicals and much more.
"Using the right products, the right way, can help us handle all of the twists and turns our bodies and environment throw at us. For example, when I see someone who is struggling with breakouts it’s important to identify what type of breakout it is and what is causing them to determine how to effectively treat it."
Nikki Bahash Reynolds, Managing Esthetician
Hormonal/stress breakouts are very different than bacterial breakouts. They respond better to products that reduce inflammation, like salicylic and azelaic acid, rather than drying, anti-bacterial ingredients like benzoyl peroxide. Even though benzoyl peroxide is a treatment for acne it can actually irritate and make inflammatory breakouts worse.
This same concept can apply toward the other components of GRASS. Antioxidants can have a lot of secondary benefits that might make one more desirable than another. Vitamin C can help lighten brown spots, Copper helps stimulate collagen, Green Tea reduces inflammation, etc. Trying to pick out the right products can be very overwhelming, and often times we end up with a lot of extra products we don’t know what to do with. That is why we always encourage complimentary consultations with our estheticians to help you find an effective and efficient regimen and educate you on how each product works so you can easily make adjustments to account for our ever-changing skin conditions.

The neck is one of the most beautiful features of a woman. Unfortunately, it is also an area that can show the signs of aging skin and can be challenging to treat. Unlike the skin of the face, the skin of the neck is much more delicate and we are somewhat limited the treatments we can use to improve the quality of the skin and smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This is particularly true when seeking treatments with limited or no downtime.
Some of you may have read of recent articles on NanoFractional resurfacing and we want to share with you a particularly great use of this technology. We recently had a patient share photographs of her neck following a NanoFractional treatment. We continue to be very impressed by the results we are able to obtain from NanoFractional technology and these results speak for themselves.
At Facial Aesthetic Concepts we only adopt proven technology that we feel will give our patients the best possible result at a reasonable price. There are many different technologies available today. Some work well while others are costly and produce only marginal results. NanoFractional has been an outstanding addition to the practice and we want the results of the treatments to speak for themselves.
“Our ability to improve skin quality, tone, and texture is continually improving with innovative new treatments. NanoFractional RF technology represents an outstanding improvement in what we are able to accomplish without discomfort and little to no downtime.” Dr. Richard Gangnes, Founder
Nanofractional RF uses tiny needles, less than 1mm, to deliver multi polar radio frequency energy and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields to produce uniform heating in the skin’s surface. This heating stimulates the skin to produce collagen and elastin fibers, resulting in smoother, firmer skin that looks noticeably more youthful.
The treatment is really a combination of microneedling and radio frequency skin rejuvenation. Combining technologies has proven to create a more effective treatment and as such we have added not only Nanofractional RF to our portfolio but also are combining this with IPL treatment to address not only skin texture and tightness but also reduce pigmentation and redness in the skin. We call this our Tone and Texture NanoFractional or TNT NanoFractional.
